Paulaner German Brewery – Kempinski Hotel
Although strictly a restaurant, the combination of genuine German Paulaner beer, German sausages and a live band every evening make the atmosphere here more akin to a bar. Located in the basement of the Kempinski Hotel, the bar is one of the largest in the city and attracts quite a mixture of customers. It is popular with high-rolling Chinese professionals, Japanese tourists and of course German and other European businessmen.
As you would expect from a German restaurant, the culinary focus is on meats and cheeses. The sausages are received directly from the German butchery in Beijing and accompanied by various types of bread and pretzel. The escalopes also come highly recommended by manager. The beer is brewed on the premises by a Paulaner brewmaster who personally ensures the quality of the two draught beers available and a range of Schnapps is also available for those that prefer a stronger, less filling alcoholic beverage. A meat platter, German Potato Salad, Escalope of Veal and four beers would be enough for a party of four, costing around 450 RMB.
The resident Filipino band provides live music at intervals between 8.30 – 12.20, and there is a dancefloor available for patrons who feel the urge to get up and dance. Although this creates a lively atmosphere, the restaurant is big enough for customers to escape the noise by retreating to the relative quiet and privacy behind the bar area.Address : 92 Jiefang Road, Zhongshan District Dalian Tel : 411 82598888 Ext 8130Opening Time : 11.30am – 1.30am
