Does anyone know how one can tell if acess to a website is being blocked?
There is a site I often get referred to (www.millerandlevine.com) which I can't access. It is a site set up by the author of a well known Biology text in the US.
I used to have trouble getting through to wikipedia but a few weeks ago it finally started working.
If the site is being blocked is there anything to be done about it? I imagine the site is not being blocked intentionally.
Miller wrote to me and said:

Great Firewall of China
What you can do is check it on:
www.greatfirewallofchina.org
the problem is that the site is ironically blocked in china. So you need to find someone outside the country to check it through that site.
you can always access those sites through various proxy sites like:
www.anonymouse.org
Article About It Here
There's a quick article giving an overview of the problem, and a couple of potential solutions here.
Recently I heard about
