Staying in China for Olympics

So there are definitely two schools of thoughts on the Olympics: 1. It will be the most awful thing in the world for people living here (foreigners I mean). The place will be swarmed with tourists who are all simultaneously acted as dumb as I did when I first showed up ("beer is 2 kuai!! Amazing!"). I don't blame them, because the discovery phase is the most fun, but don't mean I want to be there. 2. The whole world is coming to China. Normally China craziness to the 10th power!! Just wondering what others were thinking. The Geezer

Horrible

I can't imagine anything worse than having a million foreigners and 6 million Chinese flood Beijing in 100 degree heat. NO THANKS!

Alternative Options

I was in China during the 2004 Athens Games, and although I generally enjoyed watching televised table tennis and badminton, I have lately been thinking that perhaps an island beach hut in Thailand could be a good alternative, with olympic coverage (of course) televised in English via satellite from another native-English speaking country.

leave beijing during Olympics and earn money at the same time!

If you are sure that you will leave Beijing during the Olympics, you might want to earn some extra cash to finance your holiday...

You can do so by renting out your apartment via Homestay Beijing 2008, website: http://www.homestaybeijing2008.com

A typical 2 bedroom apartment can easy be rented out for RMB 3,000/day; yes folks, that is three thousand kuai per day!!!

heehee

That site seems to be blocked by the great firewall of china.

No Capitalism!!

Earn extra cash ?

Not sure how many people would be
interested in commuting from west
China each day to Beijing ....
