Chendgu: Swahili natives wanted!

Hi all,

is there any Swahili native out there? I'm a German 24-year-old working in Chengdu, would like to learn some Swahili (did not really start yet).

Thanks,
Cx

Swahili in Chengdu?

Seems like a steep request. You might want to check out any business associations in the area. Even so, that's a tough call.

What about contacting one of the African embassies in Beijing from countries where the language is spoken.

Can anybody suggest a good bar to hang out in on a Fri or Sat night in Chengdu. Any cool suggestions would be welcomed!

A few spots

I haven't been to Chengdu in a little while, but there are a few good spots. Carol's by the River is an old standard. It's a fairly young crowd with some students. Be warned though, while the place isn't too sleazy, it becomes increasingly so as you hit the wee hours of the morning, so if it's after 1am, be suspicious of friendly lady-folk.

There are a number of huge, really loud clubs, but I can't remember their names. Maybe someone can help out with that. Paul's used to be the backpacker/pubby spot, but Paul's nephew took over a few years back and it went to hell. Not sure if it's better now. Of course you might get stuck in a conversation with a white guy with dreadlocks talking about how amazing it is that the universe is so big.

The Shamrock is a good Irish pub. A bit more of the business community, although not stuffy.

The Shangri La is supposed to have an Irish pub opening soon. I would imagine that will be fairly upscale, as you might imagine.

Looking for a Swahili Translator to help on volunteer basis

Hi, I am Danny and I am looking for Swahili speaking people whom can help me get certain materials translated for our church, they will be commended after the project is over for helping the church on a community project and they can keep this commendation and this should be valid for future when they apply for the same type of job to show they have expierance in the area.

We will train you up for free, you are eligible to getting free service when you have completed a material worth certain points, those points will be worth service.

This is a FUN activity, you WILL learn alot from this.
