Isn't Xichang the city with the satellite program and the famous temple?
China's Houston
You are absolutely correct, CuteChrissy.
Xichang is located in southern Sichuan Province. It is renowned as
China's Houston for the XSLC (Xichang Satellite Launch
Center). Xichang's special sightseeing is Yi ethnic customs
and folklore.
Nevertheless, the satellite launch ground consists of No.2 & No.3 launch
pads. China's first geosynchronous satellite, first communications satellite
and first commercial satellite were all successfully launched at XSLC. No.2
launch pad is mainly used to launch carrier rockets with stronger propeller
power.
Xichang is accessible from Chengdu by plane, train or road.
