I'm not a China basher. In fact I love it here. There are probably more things I like about living here than in the US. However, there are always things you miss, and here are mine:
1. Watching baseball when I get home from work
2. Getting home delivery of the NY Times
3. Good Mexican food
4. Cab drivers who know where things are (wait, that doesn't happen in the US either)
5. The Daily Show in its entirety
And for the hell of it, 5 things I DON'T miss: 1. 100 dollar cable bills 2. People who think Japan and China are basically the same 3. Religious fanatics who push the bible on you and tell you you're going to hell (oops, didn't mean to be political ;-) ) 4. American Idol 5. Listening to people who think W is a swell guy (actually I don't know if those people exist anymore)

hmmm
Miss: My car, a wide selection of books, my Economist subscription, wide open parks, my parents (not in that order)
DON'T miss: having to drive, Fox News, Donald Trump, junk mail, groups calling for money
Well, Uk...
This thread is a wee bit US-focused, so I'll have to put a dash of culture into it:
1. real taxi-cabs
2. pub breakfast
3. rangers
4. good scotch
5. cricket
what I DON'T miss? loud slappers
Things NOT to be missed ....
My computer homepages are set to show either a blank Chinese Google or Baidu so I don't have to read any supposed headline-breaking western news whenever the machines are turned on or viewed.
Besides, I can't read Chinese anyway & any pictures that may inadvertently pop-up don't leave a too lasting impression. Ignorance is bliss, and my Chinese name is "Ting Budong"
Nothing
I love it here and am not moving back
(clean air, streets without spit, falafel sandwiches, and the daily show...So I lied)
