What kind of options are there for local Chinese bands in terms of clubs, bars, etc?

With all the new Chinese bands out there I really want to get a chance to see some people before they get famous. I know the big concert settings are okay, but usually those are pretty slick national bands that have been neatly packaged. I'm looking for something that's more of an organic movement or at least people who a big more serious about there music and less about the marketability.

What are the best venues in the big cities? Western bars, Chinese clubs, or something else? Is anyone interested in going to something like that? Maybe we can get a few people together. I'm based out of Beijing, but I travel a bit.
