Now I know there must be good Russian food to be had. I never heard of African food in China, but there are a number of places that have Russian food in Dalian, and there's supposedly a Russian area of Beijing.
Anyone know good places out there? I miss all that creamy stuff!!

Gui Jie
If you go to the East end of Gui Jie (Ghost Street) which is technically Dongzhimen Nei there are a number of Russian restaurants on the north side of the street. It's probably 3-400 meters west of the second ring road,
Enjoy!
another area
You can also get russian food in the little russian area just east of the second ring road near--slightly west of-- Ritan Gongyuan (actually I think there is also a Russia restaurant on the southwest corner of the park
Yeah, around Ritan Park
Yeah, around Ritan Park there's several of them. If you turn left out of the St. Regis and just keep walking, you'll see Moscow Restaurant on the other side of the road, then further up theres a bunch, including Elephant which is supposed to be the best. However imo the best Russian restaurant in China is the famous Hua Mei Restaurant in Harbin, on the main street, on the right hand side if you're walking up from the Songhua River end. Great hotpot, borscht, and wonderful white and gilt panelled upper dining room. I always eat there when I'm in Harbin. The Annual Restuarnat Awards issue of China Expat Magazine (see magazine section archives) is useful also for good restaurants...
Yes
That was the place I was talking about. I had forgotten about Elephant too.
Place on Dongzhimen Nei
I spoke to a Russian friend last night who told me the place on Donzhimen Nei (north side of the street, called Bushike?) is the best around. She told me the Moscow Restaurant doesn't hold a candle to it...
I'd second it
The Moscow Restaurant is pretty mediocre... I guess if you have a giant sign in a popular spot you don't need to worry about quality...
