Does anyone know how to buy tickets to sporting events in China? I was interested in either soccer or basketball, but I don't even know when the seasons start or end here. I'm also interested in getting tickets to the Olympics.
Help anyone...

Tickets
Unfortunately for you basketball season just ended, with Guangdong winning. For soccer you can usually get tickets the day of the game at the stadium, or the office is also usually open normal business hours (also at the stadium).
For the Olympics your best bet is tickets.beijing2008.cn
but they will be doing it in three phases, so it may be trickier than it ought to be.

Olympic Tickets
FYI- Olympic tickets just went on yesterday. If you're in China now it's a lot easier to get them.
If you're in China you can go to

or call (+86-10-952008) (from outside china too i guess)
Olympic Tickets
In theory you should be able to buy tickets from outside the country, but it would be advantageous to have someone inside that could pick them up for you. The Chinese mail and bureaucracy are both fairly dubious.
Olympic Tickets
There is a random drawing that you can sign up for on the website Roberto mentioned. You are eligible if you have Chinese citizenship (Greater China) or have a visa valid for a total of at least six months.
Do it quickly though because the window closes July 1. Winners will be announced in the fall.

Buying Olympic Tickets
Tickets have been sold for Phase 1 (September).
You can still get tickets, as the ticketing application process will re-open in October.
Here's what you need to know to qualify:
