Dolomiti and Wanlong are open

Wanlong opened its gates this year already early November. However, at the moment we don't recommend to go there, as it the hotel next to the slopes is completely booked out by the Japanese Ski forces. On their glorious quest for FIS points they have apparently all slopes under heavy siege for GS and Slalom training, so until the weekend of 14th to 16th, dont go there.

The brandnew Dolomiti ski resort opened on the weekend of 24th and 25th November and is now operational. As it is their first season, the amounts of slopes and lifts are certainly less than Wanlong, but with a detachable 6 person chairlift with bubble (to protect from wind and cold) Dolomiti has probably the most advanced transportation facility of all Chinese ski resorts.
The hotel next the slopes will not open until next winter, so you have to stay in Chongli (20 minutes away) or in Zhangjiakou (1 hour drive to Dolomiti).

We will head to Dolomiti on the weekend of 7th to 9th December, so people interested in joining can contact me, we have still a few places left.

Wanlong and Dolomiti

I just got back from Wanlong and the Japanese are gone and rooms are available. However, even so weekends still require advance booking since they only have 100 rooms. Most of the mountain is open. With a new quad lift to the top and a couple of new more advanced trais, Wanlong continues to be one of the best bets for a real ski resport experience in China.

We also checked out Dolomiti and it is a Christoph describes. Their long range plans are impressive with a multi mountian and extensive lift system plan. However, for this year, it is 3 intermediate trails top to bottom and the one advanced lift. Good for one day but this year not an alternative to Wanlong for multi day trip and the convienence of a slope side hotel. Cab ride from Wanlong to Dolomiti 100 RMB each way.
