Soy Sauce as Scientific Art

Every year, scientists enter images in Nikon’s competition for photography on a microscopic scale. Entitled “The Microscopic Beauty and Complexity of Life,” Wang Yanping, of the Beijing Language and Culture University, just made tenth place with his study of crystallized soy sauce, (16x). Reflected and Transmitted Light. There’s nothing really to add to this amazing image, other than to suggest the hint of Chinese seals and characters exist within even the crystals of one of China’s most famous culinary staples.

Well done Wang Yanping, a truly amazing image. For more information and images, go to the Nikon Small World web site.
